Brand Introduction Hamilton was established in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. Its first developed model, the Broadway Limited, was a watch that provided accurate train timings, gaining recognition in the railroad industry. In 1914, it was chosen as a supplier for the United States Air Force, and in 1919, it provided service for timing ski events.
Hamilton became the official watch for various airlines during the 1930s. In 1947, during World War II, Hamilton temporarily suspended civilian sales, manufacturing nearly one million military watches. The brand introduced the world's first digital watch, the Pulsar, in 1970, and was acquired by the SSIH group in 1977. Today, Hamilton is firmly established as part of the Swatch Group.
